Pimping my fixed wheel bike…

Last winter I bought a Specialized Singlecross 2008. So far I’m pretty pleased with it although I generally only use it for winter riding. It’s easy to clean and low maintenance. Plus if you use it as a fixed wheel then you can mostly do the breaking with your legs so it doesn't matter if you’re hands get cold.
I have to admit that I’m a bit of a sucker when it comes to the whole urban fixie revolution. Some of those bikes look so damn cool. I know I shouldn't fall for it but I can’t help liking shiny things. I don’t mind the look of my bike but it’s more functional than anything else. The thing is, for the money, it’s a great frame and the forks are awesome for winter riding as they have vibration dampening zertz inserts. The aluminium frame is pretty light too. So I don’t want to change the bike. Here’s how it looks off the peg…

Some things need changing anyway, like tyres and brakes and so on, so I’m going to have a go at choosing the items with “pimping it” in mind. Just for a laugh really. As I say this is just my winter bike, my main bike has carefully selected parts based on performance rather than colour coding and style.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with taking pride in the way your bike looks (although it may end up looking ridiculous).
I’m away for a bit shortly, I’ll post the results up in a couple of weeks. Look back here soon :)
