bikes bikes bikes – what bicycle should I buy?
Posted August 31, 2011
It’s fast approaching that time of year again when there are bargain bicycles to be bought from all over the internet. Not to mention at your local bike shop. As we approach the end of the season, companies and manufacturers are looking to sell off their “old” stock, which means there are road bikes, mountain bikes, time trial bikes and any number of bargain bicycles to be found. Trouble is, where do you get the best bargains from.
Your local bike shop
In the internet age you mustn’t forget your trusty local bicycle shop. They will offer you sound advice as well as a lifetime level of support (in terms of your bike anyway). They need to clear their stock levels just like the internet bicycle Godfathers such as Wiggle and Evans need to. The great thing is that these days, the friendly local bike shop needn’t wait for your footfall to put a bargain bike in front of your hand rubbing eye balls. Instead they can use Bikesoup to upload their latest clearance bikes.
So in a way, you can buy from your local bike shop, or even your not so local bike shop, right from the comfort of your computer. Gotta love that!
Try our Bike Finder tool
Yes there are many deals to be had on the internet. Wiggle, Evans and Halfords regularly offer massive price reductions. But you have to be quick in order to get the right bike in your size. And it can be tiresome and time consuming to be constantly checking the websites.
Luckily for you we created the Daily Cycle Cycle Search Tool. The tool scans Wiggle, Evans Cycles, Halfords and Bikesoup each and every day so that all you need to do is check the tool, and it will tell you what’s available.
The tool is available, free of charge in both these places:
Also, because the searches create unique urls you can email yourself or bookmark a specific search. For example if I want a road bike between £800 and £1200 I can simply use the following search:
www.dailycycle.co.uk/cycle-search.aspx?category=Racing&min=800&max=1200
or just use the handy drop down boxes. Enjoy.
Feel free to give us feedback on this tool, either by contacting us or through the facebook page.
