In every training cycle, there has to be a period of reduced load, a time to rest up, let the muscles recover and the body reset ready for the next period of heavy or high intensity training. As cyclists, it’s getting increasingly difficult to determine when in the year to take this rest period....

I’ve read a lot of different training schedules both for cycling and for duathlons. I think that whilst they are all useful, you should really do what works best for you and adapt it to meet your goals and of course the weather conditions. I guess it’s that time of year when people start thinking about New Year’s resolutions. I’m not really a believer in New Year resolutions because the only one I ever managed to achieve was giving up smoking (about 5 years ago). Granted that was a massive achievement but I think I was going to do it anyway, it just so happened to coincide with the New Year. Next year is however, going to be a pretty big year for me....

Somewhere, someday, there had to be a cycling revolution on the internet. The time is now and the place is here. Well, to be precise, the place is over at IronLegs.co.uk. I think the Olympic success of last year and this years success in the Tour de France with Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins doing so well, is really giving British cycling a massive boost. But if you’re new to the sport and you’re on the internet then no doubt you are looking for some information to get you started…

Daily Cycle is a great fun to write for, I love road cycling and I’m enjoying the steady build up of cyclists and people with common interests who now read this blog on a daily basis. But I’m also a freelance web developer, I just got married and now I have a baby on the way! So needless to say, I don’t exactly have loads of time on my hands. So I’m looking for a couple of people to join the blog as article writers, read on if you’re interested…

Like so many others, I’m often so wrapped up in getting better at road cycling, that I forget what it is that I love about the sport, and cycling in general. So here is my list of reasons why I love cycling, it would be great if you chipped in with your reasons too.

So ever since Christmas 2008 I have been using a T-Mobile G1 (the Google phone). I have to say that I love it. As a developer I really wanted a full physical QWERTY keyboard rather than the software based one offered by the iPhone. Anyway I digress. The first thing I did when I got the phone was to look through the market place for any decent apps. To my amazement there was (and still is) an awesome app called CardioTrainer which can be used for cycling, running or really any outdoor activity that you want to log.
