Targets for 2010 – Becoming a dad and doing a Duathlon!

I guess it’s that time of year when people start thinking about New Year’s resolutions. I’m not really a believer in New Year resolutions because the only one I ever managed to achieve was giving up smoking (about 5 years ago). Granted that was a massive achievement but I think I was going to do it anyway, it just so happened to coincide with the New Year.

Next year is however, going to be a pretty big year for me. I’m going to be a dad! She (yes we know the gender already) is due in March. I’m really excited. I’m also aware that there will be many sleepless nights ahead of me. So just to make things really tough I’ve decided that I’m going to start training for a duathlon or two. For those of you that don’t know, a duathlon is like a triathlon except you do run-bike-run instead of swim-bike-run.

I’m already signed up for a couple of events. One in February, so hopefully before the baby, and one in the summer. I used to enjoy running as a kid but truth be told I’m a bit out of practice. I went out last Sunday and ruined myself! I need some new trainers for a start.

Anyway, if anyone has any advice on becoming a dad, or training for a duathlon then feel free to chip in. Likewise if you have any big targets for next year it would be great to hear about them :)

Happy cycling and seasonal greetings!

Good luck in becoming a dad and a duathlete! Not sure which one would be harder. Smile

Here's some from the psychologists on how to stick to NY resolutions:

1 Break your goal into small steps

2 reward yourself when you achieve one

3 tell friends about your goals

4 focus on the benefits

5 keep a diary

I see you've already done no.3

good luck for 2010

Came across your blog looking at using BlogEngine as a CMS.  Noticed a lot of comments and wondered if you realize that a lot of these are spammers?  (ie Niche Blueprint 2.0 Review are the keywords for the site attached to the name link.) Spammers love us BlogEngineNet bloggers.

Also, congrats on the new kiddo.  They're fun.

Yes I do realise, I have a lot of spam comments that I delete, sometimes a couple slip through. They love Blogengine because the comment links dont have the nofollow tag applied to them. But there you go.

Thanks for looking Smile
