Entry level road bikes this spring

30. April 2010 02:31

Spring has sprung which normally means everyone is out and about on their shiny new bike! Are you still looking for your shiny new entry level road bike? Well here’s some to be proud of…

Felt F95

Check out the Felt F95. Its bottom of the range in terms of gearset but at this price, you cant really complain! I actually cant believe how much bike you get for your money these days. Not a bad looking bike either…

Kona Honky Tonk 2010

Kona have a good pedigree in mountain biking so they tend to build good solid road bikes. The Honky Tonk 2010 is no exception. This isn't a lightweight racer but would make an awesome commuter bike with great clearance for mud guards etc (lets face it summer ain’t always very “summery” in this country).

Focus Variado Expert Compact 2010

OK this one is a beauty and really means business. The Variado Expert 2010 is from the Focus brand which is Wiggles own bike brand. Each and every year they produce bikes which are not only of exceptional quality but always very good value for money. This year is no different. Weighing in at just 9.95kg and with the 105 groupset, this bike is really great value, make no mistake. Lovely bike – and comes in fashionable white ;)

Verenti Rhigos.03

Well its possibly priced slightly higher than your average entry level road bike but I just had to mention the Verenti Rhigos.03 – it really is a stealth masterpiece. And yes it is just over a grand but its a full carbon frame with carbon lugs and the highly acclaimed SRAM Rival groupset. Good solid wheels with the Mavic Aksiums. And what an slick looking bike – I love it -

Verenti Millook

Coming in at around £200 less than the Rhigos.03 is the Verenti Millook with its frame that combines high grade alloy with carbon fibre. This is an awesome ride for fast sportives or group rides and has been awarded 9/10 by Cycling Plus magazine. It is, in my opinion, the bike with the best value for money on this entire page. Well worth a look -

For the same money you can get a Focus Cayo 105 2010 Ltd Edition. Now that my friends, is a tough decision. I think the Verenti Millook just pegs it for me. Its a little more unique and the groupset is a bit better. But either bike would be awesome to ride.

Conclusion

Well, there's loads to choose from so there are no excuses. Get out there my friends and ride your new bike as much as you can. Happy cycling :)
